Mobile Motorcycle Roadworthy - Done at Your Place

Need a roadworthy certificate for your motorcycle? I’m Dom, a licensed Queensland safety certificate inspector with over 10,000 vehicle inspections completed. I come to your home, work, or any location that suits you. The inspection takes about 15–20 minutes, and if your bike passes, you get the certificate on the spot.

I only inspect – I don’t do repairs. That means there’s zero conflict of interest and no pressure to buy services you don’t need. You get an honest result, every time.

I inspect cars, motorcycles and trailers, in South Brisbane, Logan and Redlands and northern Gold Coast suburbs.

What Gets Checked During a Motorcycle Roadworthy?

A motorcycle roadworthy inspection in Queensland covers all safety-critical components. Here’s what I look at during the inspection:

Mirrors – your bike must have 2 mirrors providing clear rear vision.

Lights – parklight, low beam, high beam, indicators, number plate light, taillight, and brake lights. Both front and rear brake lights must work.

Horn – must be loud enough and working correctly.

Tyres – minimum 1.5mm tread depth across the contact surface. Worn or damaged tyres are one of the most common fail points.

Brakes – both front and rear. The lever and pedal must feel firm. If the brake lever touches the handlebars or the pedal contacts the frame, the braking system has a fault.

Chain, sprockets and tension – the chain should have about 1 inch (20–30mm) of play. Worn sprockets or an excessively loose/tight chain will fail.

Fork seals – any oil visible on the forks usually means a leaking seal, which must be repaired before the bike can pass.

Oil leaks – I check underneath the bike. Any active oil leaks will fail the inspection.

ABS system – if your bike has ABS, the warning light must switch off after a few metres of riding.

Speedometer – must be working.

The full inspection also covers suspension components, steering, driveline, electrical components, exhaust, headlight aim, wheel bearings, frame and chassis condition, and any modifications.

Most Common Reasons Motorcycles Fail an Inspection

After thousands of inspections, these are the issues I see most often on motorcycles:

Worn tyres are the number one fail point. Many riders don’t realise their tread is below the 1.5mm minimum until inspection day. Check your tyres before booking.

Leaking fork seals are extremely common, especially on older bikes. If you see oil residue on your fork tubes, get the seals replaced before your inspection.

Non-working lights catch people out regularly. Check every light – especially indicators and brake lights (both front and rear brake activated). Blown globes are a cheap and easy fix.

Worn brakes are another frequent issue. If your brake lever feels spongy or pulls all the way to the handlebar, the system needs attention before your roadworthy.

Motorcycle Roadworthy FAQ

A motorcycle roadworthy inspection with Local Roadworthys starts at $110 when booked online. Priority bookings with a 2-hour time window are $140. Phone bookings are $10 more.

Yes. In Queensland you need a valid safety certificate (roadworthy certificate) to sell a registered motorcycle, transfer ownership, or re-register an unregistered motorcycle.

A safety certificate is valid for 2 months or 2,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. For licensed dealers, it’s 3 months or 1,000 kilometres.

You’ll receive a clear report listing exactly what needs to be fixed. Once repairs are done, book a re-inspection (from $60) within 14 days.

Yes. Since I come to you, there’s no need to ride an unregistered bike anywhere. I can inspect it at your home, your shed, wherever it is.
