Toyota Corolla Roadworthy Inspection in Brisbane

I inspected this Toyota Corolla in Hemmant today. Passed without a single issue. No surprises there – if I had to pick the one car that causes me the least trouble during roadworthy inspections, it would be the Corolla.

The most reliable car I inspect

After over 10,000 inspections, I can confidently say the Toyota Corolla is the best car for roadworthy inspections. Full stop. They are built to a standard that most other manufacturers don’t match. When a Corolla comes in for an inspection, I almost always expect a pass.

They don’t have the engine mount issues I see on Camrys. They don’t have the control arm bush problems common on Mazda 3s. They don’t leak oil like BMWs. They don’t have the suspension failures I find on Teslas at low kilometres. Corollas just work.

What does fail on a Corolla?

When a Corolla does fail – and it’s rare – it’s almost always down to standard wear items that apply to any car:

Worn tyres. Tyres wear out on every car regardless of brand. Check all four tyres for at least 1.5mm tread depth before booking.

Worn brake pads. Brakes wear with use. If you hear squealing or grinding when braking, get them checked.

Non-working lights. A blown globe or a cracked lens. Walk around the car and test every light.

That’s about it. These aren’t Corolla-specific issues – they’re basic maintenance items that fail on every make and model. The difference is that Corollas rarely fail for anything beyond these basics.

Why Corollas hold their value

This reliability is a big part of why Corollas hold their value so well on the used market. Buyers know that a well-maintained Corolla is unlikely to have hidden mechanical problems. A roadworthy certificate on a Corolla gives buyers even more confidence – they know the car is safe and ready to go.

If you’re selling a Corolla, get the roadworthy done before you list it. Mention “roadworthy certificate ready” in your ad. Combined with the Corolla’s reputation, that’s a strong selling position. These cars sell quickly when they’re priced right and have the paperwork sorted.

A quick check before booking

Even though Corollas almost always pass, it’s still worth doing a quick check before your inspection:

Walk around the car and test all lights – headlights, tail lights, brake lights, indicators, number plate light.

Check the tyres for tread depth and any cracks or damage.

Start the car and watch the dashboard for any warning lights that stay on.

Test the windscreen wipers and washer.

Press the horn.
