FAQ'S

What is a roadworthy inspection?

A roadworthy inspection, also known as a safety certificate inspection, assesses your vehicle to ensure it meets the minimum safety standards required by law. This inspection covers essential areas like brakes, tires, lights, and structural integrity to confirm that your vehicle is safe for road use.

When do I need a roadworthy certificate?

A roadworthy certificate, also known as a safety certificate is required to transfer ownership of a registered vehicle. By law the seller must provide a safety certificate when selling a vehicle that is registered in QLD. A roadworthy / safety certificate is also required to register a vehicle that is currently unregistered.

What happens if my vehicle fails the inspection?

Don’t worry.

  • You will receive an official inspection report which outlines the reasons for the failed inspection.
  • You can book a reinspection within 14 days. We only charge a small call out fee.
  • If it is not fixed within 14 days, it will require a new full inspection in order to get a safety certificate.
  • A failed inspection does not effect a current vehicle registration. Your vehicle registration remains valid as long as you pay for it.
Do I still have to pay for the inspection if it failed?

YES. You have to pay for the inspection.

How long does the inspection take?

A roadworthy inspection takes around 30 minutes.

A pre-purchase inspection takes around 1 – 1.5 hour.

If you can’t be there, we can also do the inspection unattended. All we need is access to the vehicle and the key. As part of the inspection we are required to do a short test drive.

What is a COI or CL?

A Certificate Of Inspection / COI / CL is a certificate for an annual inspection which is required in some cases for vehicles that are commercially used, for example to commercially transport passengers, for example UBER, etc.   We do COI / CL too. Just book a roadworthy inspection and mention that you require a COI instead of a safety certificate. The checks are exactly the same.

Do you do electronic certificates?

Yes we do!

What if I can not be there at the time of the inspection?

You can book an unattended inspection.

You can tell us where we find the vehicle and key. All we need is access to the vehicle and the key. As part of the inspection we are required to do a short test drive.

Are you strict with your inspections?

YES. We strictly follow the rules set by Department of Transport and Main Roads.
